Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Visits Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited, Highlights Noilers’ Role in Food Security

We had the honor of hosting Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development, at our farm in Awe, Oyo State, on February 2nd, 2025. During his visit, he toured our breeder farms and hatcheries, gaining valuable insight into our large-scale poultry operations. He commended our efforts in enhancing Nigeria’s food security, particularly through the Noiler chicken breed, a dual-purpose bird for both meat and eggs.
The Minister emphasized the importance of scaling Noiler production through village-based cooperatives and farmer-supplier outgrower models to improve protein availability and affordability nationwide. He also shared his personal experience of purchasing Amo Farm’s day-old chicks for his own farm, expressing enthusiasm for future collaboration: “For us in the ministry, these are the types of partners we want to identify and work with.”
Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, our Group Managing Director, highlighted the significance of the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, noting its potential in securing Nigeria’s food future. He also stressed the critical role of the private sector in driving innovation and growth in the livestock industry, and expressed our eagerness to collaborate further with the Ministry to scale these efforts.
Also present during the visit were Dr. Anand Burra, Managing Director of Amo Farm, Mr. Idris Ajimobi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, and Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, National Coordinator of L-PRES, alongside other dignitaries.
This visit marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to advance food security, empower rural communities, and strengthen Nigeria’s food system. With the production of one million day-old chicks weekly and the development of the Noiler breed, we are committed to meeting the growing demand for sustainable animal protein. Additionally, through our subsidiary, natnudO Foods, we continue to produce high-quality animal protein products, reinforcing our commitment to food security and nutrition.
We look forward to more collaborations that will drive Nigeria’s food security agenda forward.
